Richie Posted: 2004-06-05 08:36:22 You may have blaster worm. To remove it, you must run an anti-virus software. Unfortunately, your computer doesn't stay up long enough for you to do the anti-virus scan. To get round this problem, start/run, type dcomcnfg and press enter. When you attempt to run the Distributed COM Configuration (Dcomcnfg.exe) tool using the Run command, there may be no response and you may receive the following error message: Cannot find the file 'dcomcnfg' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available. See how to handle this here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q253/3/11.ASP&NoWebContent=1 Once you run dcomcnfg, uncheck "enable distributing com on this computer" Reboot your comptuter and you should then be able to run your antivirus software. Run dcomcnfg again to check what you unchecked above. |
