But in your case, since you're having a problem with a .dll file, it's likely that the particular file is corrupt or damage somehow. msls31.dll is a system file, which means it's needed for your computer to operate. You can replace this file with a good copy, and see if that solves the problem. Your system files are located on your Windows installation CD as .cab files. .cab files are compressed files, you need to extract msls31.dll from it. Windows comes with a utility that does this. Insert your Windows installation disk into your cd rom drive. Click on Start/Program/Accessories/System tools/System information. A new window pops up. On that window, click on Tools, and choose the option "Select one file from the installation disk" type in msls31.dll click on start yet another window pops up. Under "Restore from", click on Browse and select your cd rom drive. Under "Save file in", it should already say c:windowssystem, so leave it as is. Click on OK. You can restore any windows damaged file using the method above. Richard. |
